Dancing Dragons of Manchester

Last Sunday saw the Year of the Rooster being celebrated in Manchester’s City Centre. Whilst travelling into town to witness the festivities, I spotted the Chinese Dragon dancers limbering up outside the main entrance to Central Library and a crowd beginning to congregate. Heading over to investigate resulted in a front row view of the performance, as three two-person dragons danced and ran around, interacting with children and hung from on high to unfurl a banner. More photographs of their frolicking can be found here.

The header image above is of one of the big parade dragons, carried by a multitude of performers as it circled just outside Manchester Town Hall before heading out on the parade route.
