Starting Over

I’ve found it a difficult thing to get back into photography. It’s a bit like a muscle in that you need to exercise your photographic instincts regularly otherwise they can become dulled and flabby. And boy, have I let mine get flabby.

About a year and a half ago, my Canon 350D decided it could no longer work. Lifting above the horizontal caused it to have all sorts of issues. So I put the camera aside and, as I had other priorities at the time, a long while passed before I looked for a replacement.

Sure, I’ve taken camera phone pictures and borrowed an SLR to play with on a couple of occasions (a photographer without a camera would be an unusual sight), but it just isn’t the same thing. So, after taking the plunge and acquiring a Canon 70D, I’m now in process of relearning plus getting to grips with a brand new camera, which is on a whole other level compared to what I’m used to.

Setting up this website is part of this process, though it’s been in the works for a long while. I just needed to get www.manchesterbe.es out of the way first. Big thank you to Danielle Wright of Pesky Varmint for all her help.

Anyway, that’s enough background for the time being. Hi, I’m Gareth. Welcome to my photography blog.
